Shubham Charitable’s multi-purpose scheme

“Zero Waste Period”

Our organization, Shubham Charitable, has launched a multi-purpose scheme “Zero Waste Period”. Under this scheme, we have manufactured “Fresh Pad” reusable sanitary pads made from clothes. The following five major benefits will be achieved through this initiative:

long term use:

Women who use our Fresh Pads can use them for up to three years with proper maintenance. With this, they will not need to buy new pads again and again.

financial savings:

Generally, women require about 250 disposable pads in three years, the total cost of which is about Rs 1400. By using our Fresh Pads, women can avail this facility for only Rs 200, which will save them a lot.

Water and Environmental Protection:

The problem of water level decline and pollution due to monthly waste is becoming serious. Each woman generates about 250 of waste in three years. By using our Fresh Pads, women can reduce this waste, which will benefit water levels and keep our fields, barns, rivers and streams cleaner.

Employment to Women:

To make these pads, we will provide employment to hundreds of women, improving their economic condition and allowing them to become self-reliant.

Widespread promotion and distribution:

To deliver fresh pads to every home, we will employ two women from each village in each block of Meghalaya. These women will spread awareness about the quality, usage and cleanliness of pads and make them available at reasonable prices. Thus, we will be able to employ around 10,000 women.

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROGRAMME:

Training Sessions: Training sessions will be conducted to educate women selected from every village in each block on how to make fresh pads and their usage.

Materials and Equipment: Necessary materials and equipment will be provided to the trained women.

Community Awareness: The entire community will be made aware about the benefits and uses of this scheme.

Thanks

Mission Zero Waste Period

The waste accumulated from sanitary pads is standing as a serious problem. In India alone, more than 500 million women throw away billions of used sanitary pads every year. The waste generated from this does not get mixed with the soil or earth even for eight hundred years and due to its toxic side effects, our rivers and our water bodies are being polluted. This is the reason why innumerable incurable diseases are increasing. To get rid of this problem, Shubham Charitable Association, which has been dedicatedly working for the development of women in Meghalaya and Assam for the last 25 years, has taken a special initiative to make reusable sanitary pads.

For the reusable sanitary pad made by Shubham, hemp cloth has been used with high quality fabric, by which women can protect themselves from the flow of blood during menstruation. Reusable sanitary pads made by Shubham named Fresh Pads which have 5 pads in a packet. It has got the certificate from Textiles Lab. So far more than 200 women have used it and no fear of any kind of rashes or infection has been found from this use. Any woman can use this reusable fresh pad for 6 to 8 hours at the time of menstruation and can use it again after cleaning it thoroughly with soap in running water and drying it in the sun or shade. Women can wash this pad more than 80 times

Five types of benefits are sure to come through this reusable fresh pad

  1. First benefit: Economic savings: Women have to use more than five thousand sanitary pads in their lifetime, for which they have to buy about nine hundred sanitary pads packets. Even if we talk about low-cost sanitary pads, its cost is around fifty thousand, whereas if a woman uses the reusable fresh pads made by our Shubham, then she will only need to buy eleven or flood bars, which The cost is around five thousand.
  2. Second benefit: Employment generation: Thousands of women will be needed to make this reusable fresh pad, so that they will get employment sitting at home and they will get financial strength, so that they can make their family more happy.

  1. Third Benefit: Marketing: Thousands of our daughters are sitting unemployed at home, they will get a good market to sell these reusable fresh pads and they will also get economic strength.

  1. Fourth benefit: Protection of the environment: Our environment will get the biggest benefit. Today our rivers, our roads and streets are all plagued with this unwanted waste. They can be clean. Our food reservoirs, rivers and air will be pure because the water seeping from these wastes goes somewhere in our fields and rivers and pollutes our food and water, due to which various types of infections are coming to our homes.

  1. Fifth Benefit: Freedom from unwanted diseases caused by touching the waste of sanitary pads while weaving children’s garbage: Have we ever thought that we remove the dirt from our homes? Where we live, the waste of sanitary pads is found in abundance. Poor helpless children weave these waste with their bare hands for their livelihood.

The waste of these sanitary pads acts as a poison in their hands because they get such dangerous infections from the waste of these sanitary pads, for which no cure is possible. Unwittingly, we become responsible for such diseases of poor helpless children. So let us be a part of the mission Zero Waste Period run by Shubham Charitable Association and make the society aware for the use of this reusable fresh pad. It is the duty of all of us to spread awareness for the Zero Waste period. Thank you
